Next year’s Senate President will be Kelly Marlow.
At-large reps include new members Brittany Brown, Katie Finch, and Garrett Lefferson. Returning members include Kevin Fleckenstein, Mary Jo Bilbruck, and Katie Chronister.

Senate Minutes—March 25, 2008

Absent: Kevin Fleckenstein (excused), Shawn Farris (excused)

Josh Turner motioned to approve last week’s minutes. Allison Jeffries seconded and all voted in favor.

Melinda found inexpensive peepholes online and needs Sam Harding to approve them
before they can possibly be purchased.
Jones—Powderpuff football for dorm event—April 18-19
Stoddard—ordering shirts for their Block Party dorm event-April 27
Graham—planning the Luau—April 12
Jewell—assigning jobs for dorm event—April 26
North—working on dorm event
Butler—no report; seeking a new Senate rep.
Commuters—ordering t-shirts

Admissions and Scholarships—hosting Presidential Scholars reception on Saturday,
March 29.
Student Life—discussed the state of the campus as being called a “commuter campus”

Safety subcommittee—Hosting a campuswide safety concern meeting on April 1, 8PM in ADR. They would like to see the following on campus: peepholes for dorms, security callposts, better lighting, easy access to emergency procedures, additional professional security staff, specific e-mails regarding rumors and threats. They also recommend that safety issues are incorporated into freshman inquiry, a campus-wide convocation is held regarding safety at the beginning of each semester, comparing our safety procedures with other campuses in the area, and conducting a campus survey regarding safety issues.

Kelly Marlow motioned to adjourn the meeting. Katie Ashcraft seconded and all voted in favor.

Senate’s next meeting will take place on April 1, 2008.

January 29, 2008

Absent: Katie Ashcraft (moved out of Jones, but will file for commuter rep position)

Approval of last week’s minutes will be voted on February 5 due to intermittent e-mail service.

Student Life—discussing transportation issues for student teachers who do not have a
way to get to observation sites. Mary Jo Bilbruck is now a rep for this committee.
Planning and Budget—will add fees to tuition next year, to include a student services fee
of $55/semester. Reported that enrollment is up this spring from the same time
last year.

Allocations
$1000 will be set aside for matching funds. $500 for new clubs. Shawn Farris motioned to set aside $2000 for Senate gift. Sarah Hamilton seconded and all approved. Breakdown—roughly $850 for the cigarette bins and we will use benches that physical plant already has and buy more if necessary.
